Join us as Dr. Dowding once again takes the stage to share his expertise in a practical and thought-provoking lecture focused on:

  • Vibration fundamentals
  • Structural response
  • Monitoring strategies for construction sites
  • Real-world applications and case studies

Why you should measure vibration – Interview with Charles Dowding

During a previous Dowding Lecture, we had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Dowding for an interview. As stated by Dr. Charles Dowding in this video, “saying something is not the same thing as measuring it”. Monitoring is required to control vibration activities, ensure project compliance, engage in proper risk management, and help build and maintain good community relations throughout a project.

Our previous attendees, Herb Singleton, Cross-Spectrum Acoustics Inc., and Rayan Shamas, GZA GeoEnvironmental summed it up perfectly:

After having referenced Dr. Dowding’s “Construction Vibrations” text for over twenty years, it was a pleasure to hear directly from the man himself. The research, evidence and conclusions presented at the talk were extremely useful and will help tremendously in monitoring and assessing vibration from construction projects.

– Herb Singleton, President & Founder of Cross-Spectrum Acoustics Inc.

Vibration monitoring education: Insights from Dr. Charles Dowding

In the second video, Dr. Dowding discusses the importance of increasing seismographic and vibration monitoring knowledge and education in an evolving industry. He lists three principal educational areas:

1. Understanding the instrumentation
2. Understanding structural response
3. Understanding geology

Having been in the instrumentation business for the majority of my career, I was drawn to the history behind the developmentof today’s most widely used criteria for vibration monitoring. Though rich in substance and content, I felt the lecture sparked an even further curiosity about Dr. Dowding’s globally sourced case studies. I would definitely recommend this lecture.

– Rayan Shamas, Senior Project Manager at GZA GeoEnvironmental

Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of an insightful session led by Dr. Charles Dowding, a pioneer in vibration monitoring.
