Why you should measure vibration – Interview with Charles Dowding

During our Dowding Lecture Series 2022, we got to sit down with Dr. Dowding for an interview. As stated by Dr. Charles Dowding in the first video, “saying something is not the same thing as measuring it”. Monitoring is required to control vibration activities, ensure project compliance, engage in proper risk management and helps build and maintain good community relations throughout a project.

Vibration monitoring education: Insights from Dr. Charles Dowding

In the second video, Dr. Dowding discusses the importance of increasing seismographic and vibration monitoring knowledge and education in an evolving industry. He lists three principal educational areas:

1. Understanding the instrumentation
2. Understanding structural response
3. Understanding geology
